Ashtanga yoga is a method of yoga created by pattabhi jois. this style is structured through a series of poses. it involves synchronizing breath with movement, a dynamic process creating internal heat purifying body and mind. Traditional ashtanga is learned through mysore method. Students learn one posture at a time. this allows the body and mind to accept the changes the postures bring about and helps to prevent injury through ego or lack of connection within ones body. adding the ability to memorize the sequencing of posture and breath really allowing for the full concept of moving meditation. you will work closely with a teacher within a group setting. establishing discipline this practice will truly challenge your areas of discomfort in all of the ways.

yin while yoga promotes flexibility and aids in relieving tension, yin takes it to another level by allowing more time to spend in each pose while holding passively. yin yoga targets the connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. this allows for the tissues to respond by creating length around the joints aiding in better range of motion. props are used and encouraged. slow moving and restful.

VInyasa is movement linked with breath, derived from the ashtanga system. Not relying on the strict structure of ashtanga it can be more of an intelligent creativity choreographed to build to a certain peak pose, or to flow with the music of the class. Classes can be challenging or more of a slow flow, depending on the suggestions of students or basing it off the feel of the energy from the class setting.
